Dr. Prem Jain founded Spectral Services Consultants Private Limited in 1980 with a vision to provide innovative engineering solutions and design energy efficient, fire safe buildings with excellent indoor air quality. Dr. Jain has mentored and nurtured this organization by his sheer will and unrelenting passion. More than 1000 projects spanning domains such as commerce, hospitality, health care, IT and aviation are a living testimony to his entrepreneurship, engineering excellence and outstanding leadership in the profession. Many landmark buildings in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur and a host of other major cities in India, carry the stamp of his design excellence.

An Alumnus of the Banaras Hindu University and University of Minnesota, Dr. Prem Jain has laid the bricks of this organization on the foundation of his exceptional research accomplishments in heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning (HVAC). Scoring a straight 'A' for all the credits with a perfect GPA 0f 4.0, Dr. Jain was accredited with the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Minnesota in 1967. His ongoing research interests and contributions are focused on Green Buildings, HVAC system design for large buildings, indoor air quality, energy conservation, water conservation and integrated building management system. |

Dr. Jain is the first practicing engineer in India to be nominated as a Fellow of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE USA, 1995) in its 100-year history. For his special merits and numerous contributions to the society, he was awarded ASHRAE's highest honour – Louise and Bill Holladay 'Distinguished Fellow' award. He is also the Founder and President Emeritus of Indian Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE). For the ASHRAE globalization roadmap, he was appointed in 2007 as a voting member for India and neighbouring countries. |

Dr. Prem C. Jain also lectures at the Delhi School of Planning & Architecture (SPA), Delhi University, and at Indian Institute of Technology as a visiting faculty. To a vast majority of architects who have graduated from SPA (Delhi) since 1973, he is known as the most admired teacher par excellence. He has been awarded the best visiting faculty award in 1990. In the HVAC industry throughout India and in the USA, his name is synonymous with the science of air-conditioning and he is known as one of the most outstanding consulting engineers with design experience spanning more than 45 years. |

Dr. Prem Jain served as Chairman, Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) in the year 2007. Under his leadership, Spectral has had the distinct honour of having designed services systems for five LEED Platinum Rated Green Buildings accredited by LEED-USGBC (USA), including Spectral headquarters at Noida, one LEED USGBC (USA) gold rated building, and the only one LEED-India Platinum rated Green Building accredited by IGBC (India) Spectral is currently designing services for several other buildings that are strong contenders for LEED Platinum and Gold Award nominations. Under Dr. Jain's chairmanship, IGBC has targeted one billion square feet of green buildings in India in the next five years. |
